Make sure you include your attendant gifts in your wedding budget. For your bridesmaids you can do something classic and elegant like a pearl jewelry set (this site offers beautiful high quality real pearl jewelry sets with multiple item discounts and you can have them done in your wedding colors!) or something more functional like a manicure set. I found this monogrammed manicure gift set at Personal Creations only $19.95. A perfect gift for your made of honor. (key ring $12.95)

such as Another idea for wedding favors if you have the time is filling organza bags with candy, tea, soap or candle favors. Another bright idea is to make centerpieces that double as favors thereby cutting costs. My fiancé is a diabetic but he loves ice cream so for my centerpieces I am picking up ice cream cups at the Dollar Tree and filling them with stones I found on the beach here. Each guest will be told to pick one out for their own personal gratitude rock. Here's a bright idea use personal gift baskets as wedding centerpices, place a tag on them stating "Love is a gift to be shared". and invite your guest to choose some items out of the baskets.

wedding will provide all the back drop you need. However if your using a location such as a grange hall you will need to provide your own coming in the day before to decorate!
Instead of large floral arrangements which can be very costly consider renting potted plants from a local nursery. (In Humboldt county check out Orchids for The People) Also some party stores rent decorations which is a good idea to check into. I positively love this canopy and will be purchasing it for my own ceremony. Offered at Oriental Trading company for $49.99 it is just fabulous. (click on pic's for the direct link) I also am impressed with their aisle runners at a very affordable $24.99.
Now a note on floating candle bowls save yourself a ton of money and stop by your local thrift store. Not only will you be saving yourself at least $5 you will also be doing a random act of kindness for a good karma boost not only by saving an item from eventually ending up in a landfill but by giving money to a charitable organization. (Most thrift stores are set up for non-profits such as the SPCA and the American cancer society, please note American Cancer society thrift stores charge a lot more then other thrift stores!) If your ceremony is far enough off you can also try shopping holiday discount sales for things such as white light strands after Christmas sales are great for these and after valentines sales for romantic decorations. Another bright idea is checking ebay for discount supplies leftover from other weddings usually you can get a good deal but make sure you check their feedback first!
THE FOOD
A very important part of your reception and a very expensive one. If your hiring a caterer check their references I have heard horror paid for a caterer they could have bought the food at costco themselves and saved a couple of hundred dollars. There are a few options to cut down costs with your food and drink budget. The largest money saver is do not have an open bar. Not only does this save you money for the bartender, license fee's(in ca you have to have a license to serve alcohol at your reception if it is not in a restaurant that already has one.) and in damages to the property by bottled water, ice tea, and juice. If your family loves coffee (as mine does) rent a large coffee service and provide flavored creams, Choices for cutting back food costs. A sit down affair will cost you more than a buffet style. Having your reception at brunch or mid day so you can serve hors devours will also save you money. There are also the pot luck reception idea (Unfortunately that ones out for me all my relatives will be traveling in to my wedding) you can also do items you can cook in advance such as lasagna, spaghetti, enchilada's, soups and more. Also include fruit trays and veggie trays. Another great idea buy precooked meals from places like Safeway not only do they do turkeys but I think they also do prime rib and others. While more expensive then cooking yourself or a potluck it will still end up cheaper then hiring a caterer. Also if you have a friend or relative that loves to cook ask them to caterer your reception as a wedding gift!
As of August 15 The Wild Tangent will be offering catering service 3 women who love to cook will come together and create your receptions masterpieces. Book your date now!
2 Bottles of Ginger Ail 1 64 0z. Bottle Fruit Juice Mix then add scoops of ice cream or sherbet to float in makes it scrumptious!
